Russian Foreign Ministry sees assassination attack on Maduro as attempt to destabilize situation in Venezuela
MOSCOW. Aug 9 (Interfax) - Moscow denounces the recent assassination attempt on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.
"We strongly denounced an attempt on the life of the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela the next day. We are sincerely happy that the head of state was not harmed," Zakharova said at a news briefing on Thursday.
The attack was committed using a publicly dangerous method and has attributes of a terrorist attack, she said.
"Such a sophisticated method of an assassination attempt using modern technical means and its public nature are certainly aimed at destabilizing the situation in the country. And all of this makes it undoubtedly terrorist by nature," she said.
