Caspian Sea convention group to meet in Azerbaijan in fall - Kazakh Foreign Ministry
ASTANA. Aug 14 (Interfax) - The high-level working group under the aegis of the foreign ministers of the littoral Caspian states that is in charge of implementing the provisions of the convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea will meet in Azerbaijan this fall, Kazakh Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov told reporters in Astana on Tuesday.
"There is an agreement that our group will meet and will immediately launch this work as early as this fall. Tentatively, such a meeting will be held in Azerbaijan," he said.
This group will have to draw up an agreement outlining methods to determine direct baselines, he said.
Under the convention, each side will establish 15-mile-wide territorial waters that will be measured from the baselines determined in accordance with this document.
