Poroshenko to watch military parade in Kyiv on Ukraine's Independence Day

KYIV. Aug 20 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President and Commander-in-Chief Petro Poroshenko will attend ceremonial events marking the 27th anniversary of Ukraine's independence, including a military parade on Independence Square in central Kyiv, on August 24, a statement on the presidential website said.

It was reported earlier that 4,500 servicemen and 250 items of military hardware will participate in the parade. New types of weapons and hardware, including some that are still undergoing state trials, will be among them.

Representatives of 15 countries, most of them NATO members, including U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton, have confirmed their plans to attend.
