Deputy Prime Minister Borisov declares big export potential of Russia's military platforms
KUBINKA (Moscow region). Aug 21 (Interfax) - Modern Russian platforms of armored vehicles and weapon systems have a big export potential; they are 30% better than foreign counterparts, Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov told the press at the Army 2018 international forum on Tuesday.
"These new products have a colossal export potential indeed. As a rule, we do not export new hardware until it is commissioned by our armed forces. Yet I think they have a colossal potential," Borisov said.
"Modern platforms, and you keep talking about Armata, Kurganets, Bumerang, and Koalitsiya, exceed similar foreign products of the same class by 20-30%," he said.
Before mass production of new platforms begins, they are put on a trial run, which relevels designer errors and nuances of operation, Borisov said.
"I think that since 2014 practically every platform has been contracted, and the army has received the necessary amount of vehicles for the trial run; the testing is in full swing. The Defense Ministry will approve the beginning of mass production if necessary," Borisov said.
