Police assigned to protect Armenian border

YEREVAN. Aug 23 (Interfax) - The Armenian police were put on combat duty on the border with Azerbaijan on August 23.

"Starting today, police units will be put on combat duty. They will be guarding the Armenian border together with the army," Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a farewell ceremony for police units being deployed to the border.

Some media outlets have reported that police will also be stationed in the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
