Lavrov, Pompeo focus on Syria in telephone conversation - Russian Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW. Aug 23 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo talked on the phone, focusing on the situation in Syria, Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
"Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had a telephone conversation at the U.S. initiative on August 23," the ministry said.
"In exchanging opinions on relevant international subjects, they gave priority to the situation in Syria," it said.
"During the conversation, Sergei Lavrov stressed that the situation taking shape in the world requires the merger of our countries' efforts to overcome the common challenges and threats, which is hampered by Washington's continued destructive line toward undermining relations between Russia and the U.S.," it said.
