Russian Defense Ministry calls on militants in Idlib to stop provocations
HMEIMIM (Syria). Aug 27 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian military called on militants to stop military provocations in the Idlib de-escalation zone.
"The Russian center for reconciliation calls on the commanders of illegal armed formations not to carry out military provocations and to start peaceful settlement of the situation in the areas they control," Maj. Gen. Alexei Tsygankov, the head of the center, said on Sunday.
"Despite the established ceasefire, breaches by illegal armed formations that are active in the Idlib de-escalation zone continue to be registered," he said.
Attacks by militants from Idlib on more than ten populated areas in the Syrian provinces Latakia, Aleppo and Hama were registered in the past 24 hours, Tsygankov said.
