Opposition youth holding protest in central Chisinau

CHISINAU. Aug 27 (Interfax) - The opposition youth, members of the young people's organization Occupy Guguta, are conducting a protest in central Chisinau on Moldova's Independence Day. The young people are protesting the actions taken by the authorities and the police, who dispersed a protest at the monument to Stefan cel Mare.

After the police dispersed the protest, police officers set cordons and closed the streets in central Chisinau to traffic, preventing people from accessing the central square and the monument to Stefan cel Mare. However, dozens of young people started a protest at the police cordon. They are protesting, using drums, tin whistles, basins, cans, and other objects. They are playing an improvised melody, chanting "That's how democracy sounds!" against the country's administration, which will lay down flowers at the monument to Stefan cel Mare at 9:30 a.m.
