Avtovaz localizing assembly of new Granta in Kazakhstan in October, in Egypt in December
MOSCOW. Aug 27 (Interfax) - Russian automaker Avtovaz intends to localize assembly of the updated Lada Granta in Kazakhstan and Egypt in October and December, respectively, Executive Vice President for Sales and Marketing Jan Ptacek told reporters on Monday in Moscow.
"Right now we are working on it [launching assembly]. Beginning in October, it will be produced in Kazakhstan and in Egypt beginning in December," he said, adding that the Egyptian plant will produce the sedan while the product line of vehicles to be assembled in Kazakhstan will be confirmed later.
In Kazakhstan, Lada cars are assembled at the Asia Avto plant, with localized semi knocked down assembly of the Lada 4x4 Urban, as well as the Kalina, Largus, Granta, Vesta, and Xray. Furthermore, the the Asia Avto Kazakhstan plant, a joint venture of Bipek Avto Kazakhtan LLC and Avtovaz, will be launched by the end of 2019.
In Egypt, Lada cars are assembled at the Al Amal Co. plant.
