Communist Party candidate for Moscow mayor seeks in court Sobyanin's removal from election
MOSCOW. Aug 28 (Interfax) - Russia's Communist Party candidate for Moscow mayor Vadim Kumin has filed a suit with the Moscow City Court seeking to remove incumbent Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin from the election.
"The court registered Kumin's suit seeking to annul the registration of Sobyanin as candidate for Moscow mayor," Moscow City Court spokesperson Ulyana Solopova told Interfax on Tuesday.
"No procedural decision has been made under the suit," she said.
Kumin stated in the suit that Sobyanin's participation in the election breachs his "lawful interests in administering state affairs" and has a negative influence in "the legal integrity" of the candidate corps in the Moscow mayoral election campaign.
