Bogdanov discusses Idlib with chief negotiator for Syria's umbrella opposition group
MOSCOW. Aug 30 (Interfax) - The Russian Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov, has said he has discussed the Idlib situation in a phone call with Nasr al-Hariri, the chief negotiator for Syria's umbrella opposition group.
"Of course, we have discussed it," Bogdanov said in response to the question whether Idlib was on the agenda.
"I have told him that our military delegation is visiting Ankara and that contacts are being maintained. As I understand, there have been top-level phone calls between the Russian and Turkish defense ministries," he said.
The problem of terrorists in the Idlib province needs to be solved, Bogdanov said.
"It has been agreed within the Astana process that the war on terrorism will be uncompromising; most terrorists are concentrating in the Idlib area, and this problem needs to be solved," he said.
