Russian jets scrambled 9 times to intercept foreign recon planes this week
MOSCOW. Aug 31 (Interfax) - Twenty-two foreign aircraft performed reconnaissance along the Russian border over the past week, the Defense Ministry's newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda reported on Friday.
On-duty fighter jets of the Russian air defense forces were scrambled nine times to intercept and escort reconnaissance aircraft, according to the newspaper's weekly infographic report.
"No violations of Russian airspace were allowed," the ministry said.
