Military attaches, media to be informed on main stages of Vostok exercise on Sept 6 - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. Sept 3 (Interfax) - The Russian Defense Ministry this week will hold a briefing for foreign military attaches on the subject of the Vostok (East) 2018 military exercise, the ministry told journalists

"At 11 a.m. Moscow time on Thursday, September 6, the Russian Defense Ministry will hold a briefing for military diplomats of the foreign states accredited in Russia. At the event, defense officials will provide detailed information on the goals, objectives and specifics of the forces being involved and the main stages of this major military training event of the Russian Armed Forces in the current year - the maneuvers of troops and forces, Vostok 2018," the defense ministry said.

Russian and foreign reporters have also been invited, it said.

"The Vostok 2018 maneuvers, which will also involve the armed forces of China and Mongolia, are of an unprecedented scale both in scale and numbers of the participating military staffs, troops and forces. For the purpose of strengthening confidence-building measures, the Russian Defense Ministry has invited foreign observers to the maneuvers," the ministry said.
