CSTO to practice contingents' deployment in Central Asia

MOSCOW. Sept 5 (Interfax-AVN) - The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will hold a strategic command-and-staff drill on September 5 and 6 to practice the formation and deployment of collective security forces in Central Asia.

"The strategic command-and-staff drill is the first event of the Combat Brotherhood 2018 strategic exercise. It will practice a set of measures aimed at preventing or deterring a military conflict in a simulated CSTO member state," CSTO press secretary Vladimir Zainetdinov told the press on Tuesday.

The sides "will elaborate proposals on forming and deploying collective security forces in Central Asia," Zainetdinov said.

The drill will be held at the CSTO Crisis Response Center under the supervision of the commander of the CSTO Joint Staff, Col. Gen. Anatoly Sidorov.

The CSTO includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan. The organization has the Collective Operative Response Force (CORF).
