Militants keep breaching truce in Idlib de-escalation area - Russian military
HMEIMIM (Syria). Sept 7 (Interfax) - Tensions persist in northwestern Syria, and militants keep breaching the truce, the head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria, Lt. Gen. Vladimir Savchenko, said at a press briefing on Thursday.
"The number of ceasefire breaches by illegal armed units operating in the Idlib de-escalation area has not declined despite the decision to cease the hostilities," Savchenko said.
According to him, there have been attacks on Qinsabba (3), Slenfa (2), Saraf, Safsafa, Nahshaba, Ein-al-Qantara, Jubb-al-Zarur, Ikko, Qellaz, and Nabi-Mate in the Latakia province, as well as government positions near Shillif. In the Hama province, attacks were launched in the vicinity of Maqanis-al-Duwayri (3), Ballirmoun (2), and Handrat.
In the Aleppo province, two attacks were seen on Tadef from the positions of the Free Syrian Army in the al-Bab area held by pro-Turkish formations, Savchenko said.
Northwestern outskirts of the Aleppo city and positions of government forces near Mount Tell Bazzam were also attacked, he said.
The Russian Center for Reconciliation urged commanders of illegal armed units "to stop armed provocations and take the path of a peaceful settlement in the areas under their control," Savchenko said.
