CEC expects 2nd round of elections in 4 Russian regions to be held on Sept 23

MOSCOW. Sept 10 (Interfax) - Russia's Central Elections Commission (CEC) recommends that four Russian regions, where no candidate won an absolute majority in the first round, hold the second round on the same day of September 23.

"Currently, we are talking about four regions where the second round of elections will take place [...] We hope and strongly recommend that the second rounds there be held on one and the same day, September 23," Pamfilova told a briefing at the CEC office on Monday.

"As long as the new mechanism, Mobile Voter, is being used, it is important that all our services get prepared to ensure that all voters have an opportunity to use this mechanism," Pamfilova added.

According to the results of the September 9 elections, gubernatorial elections will continue with runoff polls in the Primorye and Khabarovsk Territories, in the Republic of Khakassia and in the Vladimir Region.
