Gubernatorial election in Moscow region recognized as valid - Regional Elections Commission

MOSCOW. Sept 11 (Interfax) - The Moscow Regional Elections Commission recognized the gubernatorial election held on September 9 as valid and approved the final voting protocol at a meeting on Tuesday, an Interfax correspondent reported.

"The gubernatorial election held in the Moscow region is recognized as valid. Andrei Vorobyov is elected governor of the Moscow region with 1,338,029 votes (62.52%)," Moscow Regional Elections Commission Chairperson Elmira Khaimurzina said.

The standing of other candidates was as follows: Konstantin Cheremisov of the Communist Party won 278,148 votes or 12.99%, Lilia Belova of the Green Alliance got 160,771 votes or 7.51%, Kirill Zhigarev of the Liberal Democratic Party - 123,542 votes or 5.77%, Igor Chistyukhin of A Just Russia - 98,995 votes or 4.63%, and Boris Nadezhdin of the Party of Growth - 93,223 or 4.36%.
