Baku ready for talks on Karabakh to restore its territorial integrity - Azerbaijani foreign minister

BAKU. Sept 12 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov discussed cooperation and a Nagorno-Karabakh settlement process with Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Secretary-General Thomas Greminger in Baku on Wednesday.

"During the meeting, Elmar Mammadyarov touched upon the fundamental principle of indivisibility of security within the OSCE framework. He stressed the importance for all member states to remain committed to their obligations under the Helsinki Final Act," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said following the talks.

"The minister insisted on the need to intensify efforts to change the status quo and make sure Armenia withdraws its troops from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan," it said.

Mammadyarov also added that Armenia's military presence in Karabakh is a threat to regional security, it said.

"The minister pointed out that the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs is based on the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the Helsinki Final Act. He stressed that Azerbaijan stands ready for substantive and intensive negotiations to achieve progress in settling the conflict and ensure a durable and just peace in the region," it said.
