Gazprom, Itochu discuss localizing production of LNG equipment

MOSCOW. Sept 13 (Interfax) - The heads of Gazprom and Japan's Itochu Corporation, Alexei Miller and Yoshihisa Suzuki discussed potential cooperation in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector at a meeting during the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), the Russian gas giant reported.

They discussed potential cooperation on localizing production and services in Russia in order to maximize the involvement of Russian businesses in Gazprom's new LNG projects.

Gazprom also discussed the current status of the Sakhalin-2 project with Japan's Mitsubishi, including the construction of the third train of the LNG plant. The companies also discussed prospects for further cooperation.

Gazprom also discussed prospects for further cooperation with the management of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) at the EEF.

Itochu Corporation is one of Japan's largest general trading companies. It is involved in oil and natural gas production and processing, and LNG projects.
