Militant neutralized in Dagestan's Khasavyurt district - source
MAKHACHKALA. Sept 14 (Interfax) - Security forces in Russia's internal republic of Dagestan neutralized a militant who opened fire on policemen, an informed source told Interfax.
"Officers of law enforcement agencies tried to stop a VAZ 2110 car for an ID check near the village of Chontaul in the Khasavyurt district of Dagestan. An unknown man sitting inside the car opened fire on the officers, who returned fire, neutralizing the attacker," the source said.
The man's identity is being established, he said.
"The car caught fire. It is tentatively believed that there was one militant inside. The officers were not hurt," he said.
