Medvedev: Pension Fund's 2019 budget stipulates increase in pensions above inflation

MOSCOW. Sept 20 (Interfax) - The draft budget of the Pension Fund in the coming year account for the future changes in the pension system and stipulate resources to increase pensions at a rate above inflation, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.

"In the budgets of the state non-budgetary funds - Pension, social, mandatory insurance - we allocated resources that will make it possible to ensure the necessary level of social protections for people, in particular, money will go to further improve the quality of healthcare," Medvedev said at a government meeting on Thursday.

New forms of high-tech healthcare will be included in the mandatory medical insurance basic program, he said. "We will continue eliminating the shortage of individual specialists at hospitals," he said.

"In the Pension Fund's budget, we took into account the changes in the pension system, stipulated money for increasing pensions above inflation. In three years, the average annual size of old age pensions for unemployed pensioners will be nearly double the subsistence rate for pensioners," he said.
