Moscow to determine its stance on CoE membership depending on what kind of amendments will be made to PACE rules - Kosachyov

ST. PETERSBURG. Sept 20 (Interfax) - Russia will decide on whether it should stay in the Council of Europe or leave the organization after it has evaluated new amendments to PACE Rules of Procedure that are now under consideration, Federation Council Foreign Affairs Committee head Konstantin Kosachyov said.

"Decisions will be made after, and be based on, the analysis of the amendments to the PACE rules that the PACE Committee on Rules of Procedure is preparing right now," Kosachyov told Interfax on Thursday.

The Committee has just held another meeting, Kosachyov noted.

PACE will consider the amendments during its session in October, he said.

Russia regards the fact that its delegation to PACE has been stripped of the bulk of its powers as discrimination and insists on the delegation's full reinstatement, demanding that all PACE members be treated equally.
