Pushilin running for DPR head
DONETSK. Sept 21 (Interfax) - The acting head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Denis Pushilin, has submitted documents to the Central Elections Commission to be registered as a candidate in the November 11 election.
"I have submitted documents in accordance with the list. I have also received the necessary certificates. I hope the election will be fair and the person supported by the most residents of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) will win," Pushilin told the press after submitting his documents on Friday.
"Activists asked Pushilin to run for head of the DPR at the Future of Donbas forum on the central square of Donetsk on September 20, and the acting DPR head agreed to do so," a statement posted on the website of the Donetsk News Agency said.
The early election of the DPR head and the next election of the DPR People's Council are scheduled to take place on November 11. The registration of candidates for DPR head started on Friday by a decision of the Central Elections Commission.
