Russian, British FMs meet at breakfast held by UN Secretary General Guterres for foreign ministers of UNSC member states

NEW YORK (United Nations). Sept 27 (Interfax) - Talking about an exchange of views with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt meant the working breakfast hosted by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and attended by foreign ministers of UN Security Council member states, a source in the Russian delegation said.

"Apparently, this is how the British side described the breakfast of the UN SC five members with the UN secretary general," the source told Interfax in response to the request to confirm that Lavrov and Hunt had met in New York.

Russian delegation members "were surprised by the statements of the British foreign secretary that he had held talks with Lavrov. No talks took place between Lavrov and the British foreign secretary," the source said.

"The British side, as always, is mistaking dreams for the reality," the source said.

Hunt said earlier that he had had a sincere exchange of views with his Russian counterpart Lavrov.

"I think the diplomatic phrase we use is a frank exchange of views," Hunt said in an interview with Britain's Sky News television channel in a comment on his meeting with Lavrov.
