Lavrov says progress made in Colombian settlement

MOSCOW. Sept 28 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a meeting with his Colombian counterpart Carlos Holmes Trujillo on the sidelines of the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly that progress has been made in Colombia's peaceful settlement process, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on its website.

"Lavrov noted progress in the Colombian peaceful settlement process and emphasized the key significance of implementing the provisions of the Final Peace Agreement. He also reaffirmed Russia's readiness to further extend support to Bogota through international backing of the peace talks," the ministry said.

The ministers also discussed key issues on the bilateral agenda and spoke in favor of further promoting the two countries' political dialogue and broadening their trade, economic and investment cooperation, it said.
