Aerospace Forces detect over 40 launches of Russian, foreign missiles, LVs in 2018 - Defense Ministry
MOSCOW. Oct 3 (Interfax) - The Russian Space Forces, part of the Aerospace Forces, have detected over 40 launches of Russian and foreign ballistic missiles and space rockets in 2018, the official newspaper of the Russian Defense Ministry, Krasnaya Zvezda, reported on Wednesday.
According to the newspaper, the Space Forces monitored 14 launches from the Baikonur, Plesetsk, and Vostochny Cosmodromes this year.
In addition, the Space Forces issued ten warnings about space debris coming dangerously close to the Russian orbital group, Krasnaya Zvezda reported.
The Space Forces have detected and monitored 900 space objects over the year, according to the newspaper. More than 500 spacecraft have been put into orbit across the world, and more than 180 space objects have ceased to exist in 2018, it said.
