Georgia denies Russia's assumptions of Lugar lab developing biological weapons
TBILISI. Oct 4 (Interfax) - Russia's assumptions that the Richard Lugar public health research center near Tbilisi can be working on biological weapons are far-fetched, the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health of the Georgian Health Ministry said.
"It is absurd. We have stated many times that nothing of the kind is happening at the center. The center is conducting studies directed solely at protecting public health," Interfax was told.
That was the comment of the Health Ministry center on the announcement of the Russian military that the United States may be working on biological weapons, namely at the Lugar laboratory in Georgia, in spite of its international commitments.
