Poroshenko summons security reps in wake of blast at Chernihiv region ammo depot
KYIV. Oct 9 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has summoned representatives of the country's security services to brief him on the situation following an explosion at an ammunition depot in the country's Chernihiv region, presidential press secretary Svyatoslav Tseholko said.
"The president has summoned security officials for a briefing on the current situation near Ichnia in the Chernihiv region. The government has been instructed to extend all necessary assistance to people," Tsheholko wrote on his Facebook account on Tuesday morning.
An explosion rocked an ammunition depot near the town of Ichnia in the Chernihiv region on Tuesday morning.
No casualties have been reported.
Ukraine's State Emergency Situations Service has said that rescuers have evacuated around 10,000 people in the area.
