Russia's Trans-Baikal Territory may hold early gubernatorial election in Sept 2019 - local election commission
CHITA. Oct 11 (Interfax) -The legislature of Russia's Trans-Baikal Territory will set a date for the region's early gubernatorial election, local election commission chairperson Svetlana Sudakova told Interfax.
"If the president of the Russian Federation accepts the resignation of Natalia Zhdanova [who announced her resignation from the post of Trans-Baikal Territory governor on October 11], under the law on gubernatorial elections, an election of the region's head will be held on the second Sunday of September next year on the Unified Voting Day," Sudakova said.
Trans-Baikal Territory Governor Zhdanova earlier announced her plans to step down, citing personal reasons.
