Kazakh Helicopter Plant trains Sudanese specialists to operate Mi-17V-5 helicopter - Russian Helicopters
MOSCOW. Oct 12 (Interfax-AVN) - The Kazan Helicopter Plant, the manufacturer of the Mi-17V-5 multirole military-transport helicopters, has conducted a training session for operators from Sudan, the Russian Helicopters holding company press service reported.
"The Kazan Helicopter Plant, part of the Russian Helicopters holding company incorporated in Rostec, has completed a training program for specialists from Sudan under the existing contract. The program included theoretical and simulator training to operate the Mi-17V-5 helicopter," it said.
Sudanese pilots, flight engineers, and specialists in aviation and radio engineering equipment have undergone training.
Sudan's helicopter fleet includes over 20 Mi-17 helicopters of various versions manufactured by the Kazakh Helicopter Plant and shipped to the country from 2004 to 2015.
"The program lasted for about a month and included theoretical and practical exercises, including on the helicopter's full-flight simulator, to train actions in extreme situations, including engine failure," a Russian Helicopters spokesperson said.
The Kazan Helicopter Plant's training center is currently training the second group of students from Sudan, he said.
