Over 1,000 CSTO troops to participate in drills near Yekaterinburg

YEKATERINBURG. Oct 16 (Interfax) - Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states will participate in the Unbreakable Brotherhood 2018 exercise near Yekaterinburg along with the Collective Peacekeeping Forces, the press service of Russia's Central Military District said on Tuesday.

"A total of 1,115 servicemen and 300 units of hardware, including 25 aircraft, will take part in the drills," the press service said.

Russia will contribute a peacekeeping battalion made up of Central Military District troops, as well as reconnaissance units, aircraft, military police units, logistics support, and field mobile command points.

Participants will practice preparing and conducting a peacekeeping operation in Central Asia in the territory of a state that is not a CSTO member, the press service said.

The Unbreakable Brotherhood drills will be held from October 30 to November 3 under the supervision of the commander of the Central Military District.

The CSTO is made up of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.
