Lukoil, Uzbekistan sign memorandum of mutual understanding

TASHKENT. Oct 19 (Interfax) - The heads of Lukoil and Uzbekneftegaz Vagit Alekperov and Bakhrom Ashrafkhanov have signed a memorandum of mutual understanding as part of Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Uzbekistan, an Interfax correspondent reports from the signing ceremony.

The document said that the parties intend to develop cooperation and share experience in conducting geological surveying works in Uzbekistan.

Lukoil already operates in Uzbekistan as part of a production sharing agreement for the Kandym-Khauzak-Shady and Gissar projects. Total gas production at the projects operated by Lukoil in Uzbekistan has reached 60 billion cubic meters (bcm). The bulk of this output is produced at the Khauzak-Shaydy and Kuvachi-Alat sites in Bukhara Region.
