Sochi Deputy Mayor Bomberger charged with issuing illegal construction permit - Investigative Committee
MOSCOW. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Investigators have detained Sochi Deputy Mayor Ivan Bomberger and several of his subordinates as part of a corruption case, and they have been charged with issuing an illegal permit for the construction of a housing complex, the press service for the Investigative Committee said on Wednesday.
"A criminal case was opened against Sochi Deputy Mayor Ivan Bomberger, who is suspected of abuse of power. According to investigators, the official issued a permit for the construction of an apartment complex within the protection zone of a transmission line without sufficient legal grounds," the press service said.
Former deputy mayor Mugdin Chermit, architecture department head Vladimir Malov, Sochi Water and Sanitation Authority Director Sergei Vinarsky, and a bailiff of the Adler district were also detained, it said.
