Russian, Egyptian paratroopers to hold drills in Russia in 2019

MOSCOW. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Russian and Egyptian paratroopers will hold next joint drills in Russia in 2019, Commander of the Russian contingent of the Airborne Troops Maj. Gen. Alexei Naumets said.

"We have already invited them [Egyptian paratroopers] to take part in maneuvers, which will be held in Russia next year. Its concrete timing is not set yet," Naumets said at the exercises in Egypt on Wednesday.

The joint Russian-Egyptian tactical drills 'Defenders of Friendship' have already been held at the training ranges outside Novorossiysk in 2017, the general said.

The Defenders of Friendship drills are underway in Egypt on October 13-26. A number of airfields and over 15 helicopters and aircraft of various designations, and ten units of military hardware, which will be airdropped, and over 400 troops from both countries are planned to be involved in the drill.
