Second round of presidential election possible - Georgian parliamentary speaker
TBILISI. Oct 28 (Interfax) - The second round of the presidential election is possible in Georgia, Georgian parliamentary speaker Irakli Kobakhidze said.
"There is a possibility that the second round of the election may take place, however, it is highly likely that the election concludes in the first round," Kobakhidze told reporters on Sunday.
According to surveys commissioned by the ruling party Georgian Dream, the election may end in the first round, but everything depends on voter participation, he said.
"We regularly win every second vote at elections. During the parliamentary elections we won 49% of votes and 54% in local government elections. It is normal for the ruling party in the democratic system to win every second vote and we're expecting the same in this case," Kobakhidze said.
The Georgian Dream ruling party supports independent candidate Salome Zourabichvili at the presidential election in Georgia on Sunday. A total of 25 candidates are running in the election.
