Admiral Kuznetsov moored at 35th ship repair plant's pier
MOSCOW. Oct 30 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian heavy aircraft carrying cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov that was undergoing maintenance at the PD-50 floating dock of the 82nd ship repair plant was not damaged in an accident at the dock, a spokesman for the Zvyozdochka Ship Repair Center told Interfax-AVN.
"The aircraft carrier had been towed to the 35th ship repair plant [which is part of the Zvyozdochka center] by 6 a.m. It is moored at its pier," the spokesman said.
"No employees of the 35th ship repair plant have been hurt," he said.
The accident at the PD-50 floating dock "occurred during a routine dock operation," the spokesman said, adding that the "dock's submersion did not go as planned."
"The aircraft carrier that had been at this dock was removed from it," he said.
The Admiral Kuznetsov has been undergoing maintenance at the 35th ship repair plant, part of the Zvyozdochka Ship Repair Center, which is part of the Russian United Shipbuilding Corporation). The ship was at the PD-50 floating dock, which belongs to the 82nd ship repair plant.
The floating dock sank when the aircraft carrier was exiting it.
According to local media, two pillar cranes fell during the accident.
