Black Sea Fleet's Kalibr-carrying frigate sets out for Mediterranean Sea

SEVASTOPOL. Nov 5 (Interfax) - The Black Sea Fleet's Admiral Makarov frigate armed with Kalibr-NK cruise missiles has set out from Sevastopol and is heading to the Mediterranean, head of the Black Sea Fleet information support department Capt. 2nd Rank Alexei Rulyov told Interfax on Monday.

"In keeping with its mission the crew of the ship will operate as part of the Russian Navy's permanent task force in the Mediterranean Sea," he said.

As part of preparations to a voyage the crew of the Admiral Makarov frigate has held a drill at its permanent base and during sea missions. The Admiral Makarov in particular practiced a strike on a simulated enemy by Kalibr-NK missiles while performing electronic launches, Rulyov said.
