MSU rector asks for anti-doping lab budget increase

MOSCOW. Nov 14 (Interfax) - The rector of Moscow State University, Viktor Sadovnichy, has neither confirmed nor denied plans to cut the budget of the MSU anti-doping laboratory.

"We did receive the budget [from the Sports Ministry], that is already our matter, what we are asking for is an increase," Sadovnichy told journalists on Wednesday.

He was commenting on reports that the opening of the anti-doping laboratory was being delayed because its 2019 budget had been cut by 25%.

The budget was received from the Sports Ministry which previously ran an anti-doping laboratory, Sadovnichy said, without explaining whether the budget was in fact cut and by how much.
