Over 100 died in Syria's Rukban camp due to poor hygienic situation - Russian Health Ministry
MOSCOW. Nov 16 (Interfax) - Over 100 people died in the Rukban refugee camp in Syria last month due to the poor hygienic situation and the absence of medical assistance, Russian Health Ministry official Sergei Grabchak said on Friday.
The outbreak of infectious diseases in the camp is likely due to the catastrophic sanitary-epidemiological situation there, and refugees are receiving almost no medical assistance, Grabchak said at a meeting of the Russian-Syrian interdepartmental taskforce for refugee return.
"All these circumstances are leading to a high mortality rate. Over 100 people died in Rukban last month. I confirm the difficult, catastrophic situation in Rukban," he said.
