Kemerovo region boosts coal production 5.2% in 10M
KEMEROVO. Nov 16 (Interfax) - Coal miners in Kemerovo region produced 211.8 million tonnes of coal in January-October 2018, a 5.2% increase over 10M 2017, the regional government's coal industry department told Interfax.
Open-pit mines had output of 137.4 million tonnes of coal (compared with 129 million tonnes a year earlier).
Production of coking grade coal amounted to 60.1 million tonnes and heat coal - 151.7 million tonnes.
Surplus coal in storage and washing plants increased by 9,000 tonnes in October to 20 million tonnes, and was up 3.7 million tonnes year-on-year.
It was reported earlier that coal loading on Western Siberian Railways, a subsidiary of Russian Railways (RZD), increased 1.8% to 190.9 million tonnes in the ten months.
