Verkhovna Rada speaker promises martial law won't hinder creation of local church
KYIV. Nov 27 (Interfax) - The imposition of martial law will not prevent the unification assembly of bishops from being convened, and Ukraine guarantees its security, according to Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andriy Parubiy.
"The imposition of martial law will not hinder the convening of the unifying bishops' council," the speaker wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.
Parubiy urged Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to hold the council in Kyiv as soon as possible. "We guarantee the security of this council," he wrote.
