U.S. paid Roscosmos $225 mln in 2017 for delivery of astronauts

MOSCOW. Nov 30 (Interfax-AVN) - In 2017, Roscosmos received $225 million from NASA for the rotation and rescue of astronauts, according to its annual report for 2017.

"The receipt of funds by Roscosmos State Corporation was secured in the following volumes: in the framework of modifications 250/261 - $26.527 million; in the framework of modification 262 - $86.778 million; and in the framework of modification 277 - $112.268 million."

The report says that these operations were conducted with the purpose of "the unconditional fulfillment of international obligations undertaken by Russia to support and perform operations to rotate and rescue NASA astronauts appointed by the U.S. side in the framework of modifications #250, 261, 262, and 277 of contract NAS15-10110."

The report also says that an understanding was reached with NASA on the compensation of $10 million "for engineering support of the Zarya functional cargo module."
