Moskalkova discusses importance of simplifying procedure for granting Ukrainians Russian citizenship

MOSCOW. Dec 3 (Interfax) - Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova says she supports the presidential initiative on simplifying the procedure for granting Russian citizenship to Ukrainian citizens.

"It is very important, from a moral and legal viewpoint and from the point of human rights, that an initiative on simplifying the procedure for granting citizenship to citizens of Ukraine has been proposed," Moskalkova said on Rossiya 24 (VGTRK) television.

The initiative was proposed by the Russian president amid the toughening of corresponding rules in Ukraine, she said.

This initiative is "undoubtedly positive" and is part of the work to simplify the procedure for granting Russian citizenship done over the past few years, Moskalkova said.

The procedure generally needs to be simplified, she said.
