Russia has nothing to gain from chaos in EU - Matviyenko
MOSCOW. Dec 4 (Interfax) - Russia wants the European Union to be united and denies allegations that it has attempted to destabilize it, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said.
"Russia is being accused of attempts to destabilize the situation in the European Union. We are interested in the EU's unity; it is our important trade and political partner," Matviyenko said at a meeting with European Parliament deputy Rolandas Paksas (Lithuania).
"God forbid there be chaos in the European Union. It would have negative implications for Russia," she said.
Russia does not stand to gain from that, Matviyenko said.
