Russian CEC members to monitor elections in Armenia

MOSCOW. Dec 4 (Interfax) - Maya Grishina, the secretary of the Russian Central Elections Commission (CEC), and her colleague Nikolai Levichev will participate in monitoring of the early elections in Armenia.

"Russian CEC Secretary Maya Grishina will participate in the monitoring at the invitation of the Central Elections Commission of the Republic of Armenia. Russian CEC member Nikolai Levichev [will participate] as part of the CIS monitoring mission," the CEC said in a statement on its website on Tuesday.

The CEC mentioned that the Armenian parliament, set up following the elections in 2017, had been dissolved after deputies of the Armenian National Assembly twice failed to elect the prime minister at a special session. The Armenian president signed a decree scheduling the early elections in accordance with the Armenian Constitution.

The elections will take place on December 9.
