EU envoy for S. Caucasus to visit region after Armenia situation is cleared up - source
BAKU. Dec 11 (Interfax) - The European Union's Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar will visit the region, including Azerbaijan, after the political situation in Armenia is cleared up, a diplomatic source told Interfax.
"The issue of Klaar's visit to Azerbaijan was discussed at a meeting with [Azerbaijani] Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov in Milan last week. The EU is now following the ongoing developments in Armenia in the wake of the early elections to the National Assembly," he said.
Klaar is highly likely to visit Azerbaijan in 2019, the source said.
"A date, a format and an agenda of meetings as part of such a visit to the region will be determined after the political situation in Armenia is cleared up," he said.
