Russian companies, including Gazprombank, may take part in building Sudan refinery

MOSCOW. Dec 12 (Interfax) - Moscow is discussing participation by Russian companies in construction of a oil refinery in Sudan, Natural Resources and Environment Minister Dmitry Kobylkin told reporters.

"We are examining the issue of building an oil refinery in future. This is a very important and timely topic for Sudan. [Sudanese Oil, Gas and Mineral Resources Minister Azhari Abdalla] will hold talks in the near future at his place. We also have preliminary agreement with a host of Russian companies," Kobylkin said following a meeting of the Russian-Sudanese commission on trade and economic cooperation.

"There is preliminary agreement with Gazprombank on potential examination of this issue. For now we are talking about raising investment, saying there is demand for this on Sudan's part. All of the nuances must still be discussed," he said.
