R-180 engines supplied to U.S. may also be installed in Russian rockets

MOSCOW. Dec 17 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia is satisfied with its cooperation with U.S. buyers of liquid-fuel rocket engines, NPO Energomash head Igor Arbuzov said.

"The director general of NPO Energomash has praised [the company's] cooperation with U.S. partners - Pratt&Whitney, United Launch Alliance, RD AMROSS and Orbital Sciences Corporation - in the delivery of RD-180 and RD-181 engines," Energomash's press service said in a statement.

"Furthermore, he said that Roscosmos has ordered considering the use of RD-180 engines in domestic launch vehicles," it said.

Arbuzov made the statement at his meeting with NPO Energomash employees.

The company designed and builds the RD-180 liquid-fuel rocket engine for U.S. Atlas space rockets.

Three sets were supplied to U.S. customers in 2018, a total of eleven RD-180 engines.
