Impossible to revive socialism in Russia - Putin

MOSCOW. Dec 20 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said at his annual press conference that it is impossible to restore socialism in Russia.

"I think it's not possible," Putin when asked a relevant question.

The reason is "core changes in society," he said, acknowledging, however, that certain elements of socialism are possible in the economy and the social sector.

"It [socialism] always means spending more than you're earning and eventually leads to an economic impasse," Putin said.

The core principle of today's policy is the fair distribution of resources and a fair attitude to people who live below the poverty line, he said.

"This is what our national projects are largely directed at," Putin said.
