Russian Defense Ministry withdraws 150 air defense crewmembers from Syria
MOSCOW. Dec 24 (Interfax-AVN) - More than 150 servicemen of an air defense regiment of the Central Military District are back to Russia upon the successful fulfillment of their mission in Syria, the district press service said on Monday.
"An Ilyushin Il-76 military transport plane of the Russian Aerospace Forces airlifted them to Novosibirsk. The servicemen of the regiment had been protecting crucial sites of the Russian contingent for three months," the press service said.
The servicemen have been nominated for state and agency awards, it said.
